How To Turn Your Bread into a Meal

After a long day at work, the last thing anyone wants to do is come home and prepare dinner. You rush to the kitchen, open the refrigerator, and find out that you’re missing ingredients or forgot to defrost something the night before. When you’re low on ingredients, it can be difficult to throw together a quick meal.

Bread is a staple that can easily be turned into a filling and satisfying meal. If you have your favorite bread at home, there are plenty of ways to make a quick and easy dinner. Check out these easy ways to take bread and other kitchen staples to create a delicious meal.

Add Eggs

This is one of the most popular bread recipes out there, but it has lots of different names. Some people call it egg in the basket, and others call it egg in the hole. Either way, this is a quick and easy meal idea!

Take a slice of bread and cut a circle right through the middle of the slice. Grab a skillet and melt some butter on it. After that, put the bread on that skillet. Now fill up the hole with the contents of the egg.

Wait for a while until the egg is set inside the bread, then give it a gentle flip. Be careful on the flip –  too early and the egg may run out, but too late may result in over-cooked eggs. The best technique is to flip it when the egg is no longer transparent. Once the egg is cooked and the bread is nicely toasted, you’re all set to enjoy with a cup of coffee! Add cheese or other condiments for extra flavor.

French Toast

If you prefer a sweet meal, use your eggs to make french toast instead. All you need to make french toast is bread, eggs, a little bit of milk, and syrup or another topping. There’s also the option to add butter, fresh fruit, cinnamon, and other spices.

Whip up a few eggs with some milk and cinnamon, if you have it on hand. Coat the bread in the egg mixture and place it on a greased pan. Fry both sides evenly and you’re done! Add syrup, fruit, or other toppings like whipped cream or chocolate chips as you please.

Pizza Bread

If you have a loaf of bread in the kitchen and a few other ingredients, you can turn it into a pizza. For this, you’ll need your favorite pizza sauce. Also, grab hold of some cheese. Depending on what else is in the fridge, you can add as many toppings as you want – meats, other cheese, onions, veggies, and so on. The ingredients for your fresh and hot homemade pizza are ready. Time to cook. Toast the bread and spread tomato sauce on it. Next, sprinkle on cheese and whatever other toppings you’d like. Bake your pizza until the cheese is melted and it’s nice and warm, and your meal is ready!
